Olympus Keymed Receives 2006 President's Award

The President's Awards are held once a year on the anniversary of the establishment of the Olympus Corporation, and are bestowed on individuals and companies that have made significant accomplishments. On 12 October Olympus KeyMed was presented the 2006 President's Award in recognition of its exceptional achievements.

This award is a direct result of Olympus KeyMed being awarded, for the second time in 2 years, a Queen's Award - the most prestigious business award in the United Kingdom.

In April 2004, Her Majesty the Queen approved the Prime Minister's recommendation that a Queen's Award for Enterprise be conferred on Olympus KeyMed in the category of Sustainable Development.

This was followed by a second Queen's Award in April 2006 in the category of International Trade, given in recognition of the company' s success in deploying the commercial excellence gained within its UK domestic business to other international markets, resulting in impressive performance improvements.

Olympus'(TM) President, Mr Tsuyoshi Kikukawa presented his Special Award to Michael Woodford MBE, Olympus KeyMed's Group Managing Director and Executive Managing Director of Olympus Medical Systems Europa, at a celebration dinner hosted by British Ambassador Sir Graham Fry at the British Embassy in Tokyo. Mr Kikukawa said the Award acknowledged the outstanding efforts of all the company's employees in attracting its second Queen's Award for Enterprise.
