Okuma & Howa to Demonstrate Wide Range of Turning and Machining Capabilities at Eastec 2006

Okuma & Howa will be exhibiting advanced turning, milling, and machining technologies at Booth #1348 at this year¹s Eastec show. Featuring demonstrations of the popular MILLAC 44V Vertical Machining Center, equipped with automatic pallet changer, the 2SP-150H Horizontal Turning Center, and the V100L Vertical Turning Center, O&H will bring to the floor an unbeatable combination of versatility, speed, and power perfect for aircraft, aerospace, and other high-precision parts.

In the medium- to large-size range of vertical turning, O&H will be demonstrating the V100L a member of its well-known V series. The V100L features a maximum cutting diameter of 40", a maximum swing diameter of 50" and a maximum cutting length of 35". Useful for such applications as wheels, disc brakes, fly wheels, hubs, and valve bodies, the V100L carries the largest spindle in its class, an ultra rigid column and a counter-balanced saddle, as well as a live tool turret with a C axis spindle.

Okuma & Howa¹s popular MILLAC 44V is quickly building a reputation as an impressive and reliable vertical machining center. With an X-axis of 22.05" and Y and Z axes of 16.14", the 44V is powered by a ³built-in² 20-HP motor, which provides a spindle speed range of 120-12,000 rpm. Designed in response to the demand for high-speed machining in moldmaking, and tool and die applications, the 44V also boasts a servo-driven tool magazine designed for CAT 40 holders, standard spindle air curtain, and FANUC 18iMB CNC system all in its compact design of 5.25' x 9.19' x 7.87'.

Also demonstrated will be the 2SP-150H, which was recently honored with the Japan Machine Tool Manufacturers Award. Designed for small-sized precision parts including bearing races and sealing rings, the Twin Spindle Horizontal Turning Center with gantry offers 4-axis simultaneous or individual part production of rotational parts up to 5.9" in diameter and 3.1" in length.

Mark Davis, O&H Product Manager, states, ³All of these machines represent the latest in their fields. We sought to bring to Eastec not only examples of our best work, but practical demonstrations of the range of capabilities our customers are already using with great success. Each of these machines is already receiving accolades in its own right, and by bringing them together we¹ll be able to exhibit to Eastec attendees the true state of the industry.²
