OCP Adds Extended Temperature Option to DWDM Product Line for OC48/STM-16 Applications

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.-Optical Communications Products, Inc., a manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan area, local area and storage area networks, today announced the availability of its extended temperature (-5 to +85 deg C) OC48/STM-16 Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers to support high-density, long distance metropolitan area networking (MAN) applications.

"OCP is providing a more robust transceiver which allows for operation in the -5 to +85C temperature range. This device will be available in the same distance options as the commercial (0 to +70C) versions," said Kirk Bovill, Director of Marketing. "This product will allow equipment manufacturers to install DWDM in existing equipment designed to operate up to 85C."

OCP's "TRPW48" DWDM product line is compliant with the G.692 ITU-T standard, offering 44 wavelengths on 100GHz C-Band spacing with an optical link budget of 26dB. The DFB lasers used in these SFP transceivers feature an integrated optical isolator for stable transmitter operation under the varying back-reflection conditions that exist in installed cable plants.

The modules are designed for multi-rate applications, supporting data rates ranging from 2.67Gb/s down to 125Mb/s. The DDM functionality adheres to the SFP DWDM MSA, enabling the end-user to monitor key areas in the performance of the SFP transceiver: internal temperature, DC supply voltage, transmitter bias current, transmitter output power, receive optical signal level, laser wavelength and TEC current. Integrated DDM functionality also incorporates warnings and alarms to monitor these parameters.

Pricing and shipping information is available by contacting OCP sales at 818-251-7100 or via email at sales@ocp-inc.com.

OCP's OC48/STM-16 DWDM SFP multi rate transceivers will be on display at ECOC 2006 on September 25-27, 2006 at the Palais des Festivals and des Congres, La Croisette, Cannes, France. Please visit OCP booth # 638 for more information.
