O-I Announces President of North America

PERRYSBURG, Ohio, Oct. 8 -- Owens-Illinois, Inc. (NYSE: OI) today announced that J. Scott Murchison has been named president, North America Glass Containers.
In this role, Mr. Murchison will focus on increasing the North American region's profitability and growth, as well as improving operational performance.
"Scott brings broad management experience with substantial background in both the commercial and operation areas from a business environment similar to O-I," said Rich Crawford, president, Global Glass Operations. "He has a proven track record of improving the profitability of his former business and of building high performing teams. We look forward to Scott joining the North American team as we continue to build on our current momentum."
Mr. Murchison joins O-I from the International Paper Company where he began in 1986. He served in various management assignments, including sales & marketing manager for the bleached board and the folding carton divisions, as well as general manager of beverage packaging, North America. In 2001, Mr. Murchison was named vice president and general manager of the beverage packaging business and in 2002 his assignment was expanded to include the foodservice division. He holds a degree in civil engineering and management from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
