NXP Semiconductors and Nok Nok Labs to Demonstrate One of the First FIDO Ready(TM) UAF Authentication Solutions at RSA 2014

SAN JOSE, Calif. - NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ: NXPI), the leading provider of Secure Microcontrollers, and Nok Nok Labs, an innovator in modern authentication and founding member of the FIDO Alliance, will demonstrate a FIDO Ready™ UAF equipped smart phone at the RSA Conference USA. NXP's solution leverages an embedded Secure Element to create a FIDO Ready UAF solution to enable easy to use strong authentication to secure online services and access to it.  NXP's booth #1341 is in the South Expo Hall.

With the ubiquity of mobile devices, almost every part of our lives today is accompanied by some kind of digital interaction. Hundreds of millions of Internet users log into Facebook, Twitter, online storage, banking and other online destinations from a mobile device without the safeguard of strong authentication. This poses a significant security threat to the credentials used, as well as to the integrity of those web sites. The FIDO Alliance's goal is to provide standards to improve cloud authentication so access to web services is easy and secure. The Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) scheme is an open authentication standard initiative focused to support Multi-Factor Authentication on mobile devices.

At RSA, NXP will present the simplicity of strong authentication with a FIDO Ready UAF (Universal Authentication Factor) smartphone in collaboration with the Nok Nok Labs NNL™ Multifactor Authentication Server. NXP and Nok Nok Labs are both board members of the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance (http://www.fidoalliance.org/) an industry consortium revolutionizing online authentication with a comprehensive set of standards-based specifications (FIDO specifications) around easy and secure online authentication.

"Supporting FIDO specifications and forging solutions across the value chain is essential to reaching the post username and password authentication era of strong authentication," said Sami Nassar, Vice President & General Manager Cyber Security Solutions, NXP Semiconductors. "The FIDO Ready UAF smart phone solution we unveiled today with Nok Nok Labs incorporates an embedded secure element and ensures secure access to cloud services without compromising privacy and simplicity for consumers and enterprise users."

"Nok Nok Labs is excited to work with NXP Semiconductors to ensure the widespread adoption of FIDO-based solutions," said Phillip Dunkelberger, President & CEO, Nok Nok Labs. "NXP has an extensive pedigree of developing solutions in the authentication space and our partnership will ensure the availability of strong authentication solutions that provide hardware-based assurance."

Additionally while at RSA, on Wednesday, February 26, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Yubico and NXP will be participating in the FIDO Ready Showcase. The Showcase will feature a FIDO Alliance member panel, FIDO Ready live product demonstrations, and a chance to meet and interact in one-to-one meetings.  The FIDO Ready Showcase will take place at Moscone North, Room 110. And on Monday, February 24, 2014, Michael Poitner, global marketing director, for NXP Semiconductors will present during the "Security Basics Seminar" on authentication technology in Room 3014 in the West Expo Hall.
