NuWaves Engineering Selected to Present at the 1st Annual International Space Station (ISS) Research and Development Conference

Middletown, Ohio- NuWaves Engineering, an international Radio Frequency (RF) solutions company, has been selected to present a technical abstract at the 1st Annual International Space Station (ISS) Research and Development Conference on June 28th in Denver, Colorado. NuWaves abstract focuses on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) work which concentrates on High Efficiency Switching RF Power Amplifiers intended for Earth Radar Observation in the L, S and X bands.

Traditional PA classes based on limited conduction angle topologies (i.e., Classes AB, B, and C) are unable to achieve the better than 50% efficiency required by the solicitation over a large bandwidth. Therefore, NuWaves work focuses on the more efficient breed of switching power amplifiers. In particular, the focus of the investigation is the Class F and Inverse Class F PAs incorporating new techniques to operate broadband on multiple radar bands. NuWaves target for efficiency is in the 60% to 80% range which will significantly reduce battery size and cooling requirements in space for the technologies High Efficiency Switching Power amplifiers for Earth Radar Observation Systems (HESPEROS) by NASA, as part of the government agencyfs efforts to pursue smaller and more affordable spacecraft.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program not only meets specific Federal research and development needs, said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering, it also allows small businesses the opportunity to display their entrepreneurial spirit by competing to stimulate high-tech innovation.

NuWaves Engineering is a premier supplier of Radio Frequency (RF) and embedded systems products and solutions for DoD, non-DoD government, and industrial customers.
