Northrop Grumman's Lawrence Schneider Appointed to Army Science Board


MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 19, 2006 -- The Department of the Army has appointed Lawrence Schneider, vice president of Land Forces, C3I Systems at Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Mission Systems sector, to serve on the Army Science Board, the U.S. Army's senior scientific advisory body.

As a member of the board, Schneider will provide advice and make recommendations to the Department of the Army on a variety of critical, timely scientific and technical matters. Schneider will serve a three-year term.

The board, a federal advisory committee, advises the Secretary of the Army, Chief of Staff of the Army, the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), the Army Staff and major Army commanders.

Schneider is a recognized expert on tactical and operational-level Army and joint battle command and intelligence activities and related command, control and intelligence and modeling and simulation systems.

Schneider served as an infantry, special forces and intelligence officer during his 30-year Army career. Following his retirement in 1996, he held leadership positions supporting Army systems and programs at Mystech Associates Inc., Sterling Software and Logicon Corporation. All were subsequently acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2000.

Schneider earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from Park College in Parkview, Mo., and a master's degree in political science from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kans. He is also a graduate of the Army War College.
