New Pig Launches Pig Difference Grant Program

New Pig, a leader in providing innovative environmental leak and spill containment products worldwide, announced today - Earth Day - that they are launching the PIG Difference Grant Program. The program is designed to encourage local wetland, lake, stream and watershed protection through pollution prevention and waste reduction projects that contribute to a cleaner world. Several times a year, New Pig will accept project entries and provide funding of approximately $25,000 annually in the form of cash and in-kind donations of New Pig products to the winners.

“Through the Pig Difference Grant Program, New Pig will call for water quality improvement project entries three times a year,” said Doug LaPlante, New Pig Vice President, Strategy. “This is an exciting opportunity for New Pig to assist community organizations and get advice from our customers – many who are highly skilled environmental professionals.”  According to Laplante, “New Pig’s customers will help select the strongest programs as grant winners”.

Entries will be accepted for 8 weeks after this announcement and will be followed by a judging process that includes crowd-sourced improvements to strengthen and to identify grant recipients. Once the grants are awarded the application cycle will begin again. Groups and organizations of any type may apply – business, non-profits, or loosely organized groups.

“With our customers’ environmental expertise, plus funding, PIG products and leadership, we believe this program can make measurable improvements in communities around the country,” said LaPlante.

The Little Juniata River Association (LJRA) became the first recipient of the PIG Difference Grant Program when it partnered with New Pig to clean-up the Little Juniata River and its tributaries. New Pig presented LJRA with a check for $5,000 in appreciation of its long-term commitment to a clean Little Juniata River.
