New Deltech Melting Furnace Arrives at Gillinder Glass

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – Gillinder Glass’ technologically advanced glass science lab added another melting furnace this month (April 2015).

Commenting on the arrival of the new high-temperature (3000°F) Deltech melting furnace, Bart Winkler, chief science officer, confirmed “the new melting furnace will ensure the second quarter releases of the multiple new specialty glasses being simultaneously developed by our research and development team.”

Asked about the financial implication of these new compositions, Fred Harding, chief financial officer, explained, “We are developing new glasses in concert with international customers -- not only in the aerospace and industrial/commercial markets, but also for emerging applications in technology, food service, and medical fields. We will always manufacture globes, domes, lenses, and prisms, but we see these new products as potentially paradigm shifting advances.”

Charlie Gillinder, president, further elaborated, “The addition of another melting furnace not only expedites our response to new opportunities, but further enhances our industry- leading flexibility and capability to support our customers from development through ramp up, and then through the balance of the products life cycle.”

Dave Fox, vice president, sales and marketing, succinctly coalesced these thoughts when he stated, “The addition of this technology further solidifies Gillinder’s position to be a one stop shop for all glass requirements as well as creating growth through research and development in cooperation with customers thus creating a synergistic response to the changes in the technology of our markets.”
