Canon imageCLASS MF4270 Delivers Desktop Multifunctionality in an Affordable Network-Ready Device

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., August 6, 2007 - Addressing the needs of small and home offices seeking an affordable network-ready multifunction device, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions for the home and office, today unveiled the new imageCLASS MF4270 laser multifunction printer (MFP). The latest addition to Canon's award-winning line of imageCLASS laser MFPs, the new imageCLASS MF4270*/** packs big-office networked workflow functionality into a compact desktop device, for under $300.

One of Canon's smallest laser MFPs, the imageCLASS MF4270 will print duplex output directly from a PC, as well as duplex print incoming faxes and copying letter-sized documents, helping reduce paper consumption in the home or office. Canon's imageCLASS MF4270 duplexing capability will allow customers to significantly reduce paper consumption. Through the device's 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), the unit will also copy single-sided documents and output double-sided pages for quick and efficient workflows.

"Canon has made vast improvements with our line of small and home office MFPs, squeezing more functionality into smaller MFP designs," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "The imageCLASS MF4270 stands as one more example of Canon bringing big business capabilities to the desktop."

The new imageCLASS MF4270 monochrome laser MFP is capable of print and copy speeds of up to 21 pages-per-minute (ppm) for letter-sized output. Customers will enjoy sharp monochrome text printed at up to 1200 x 600 dpi resolution. The imageCLASS MF4270 will capture scans in 24-bit color at an interpolated resolution of up to 9600 dpi through its automatic document feeder (ADF) or platen glass.

The imageCLASS MF4270 MFP provides a robust fax solution in a compact desktop design featuring eight one-touch speed dial numbers, 100 coded speed dial numbers, 256-page memory capacity, PC Faxing, and two-sided duplex output. The imageCLASS MF4270 uses a 33.6 Kbps Super G3 faxi for the rapid transmission of facsimile communications.

The 35-page ADF on the imageCLASS MF4270 MFP allows one-sided to two-sided copying, printing and faxing and is equipped with a 250-sheet front-loading paper cassette that is neatly concealed in the bottom of the unit. The device is capable of copying up to 8.5 inches x 14 inches (legal) from the ADF or letter-sized using the platen glass or ADF. For optimal speed when printing and scanning, imageCLASS MF4270 MFP provides a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interfaceii. The device also offers network connectivity through the 10/100Base T network.

The imageCLASS MF4270 model also incorporates the Canon Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner and drum in one easy-to-replace unit, resulting in excellent image quality retention and eliminating the complication and warehousing of separate toner and drum consumables.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the imageCLASS MF4270 is $299*** and it will begin shipping to retailers in September 2007.
