New 85 Ohm Connector Suite Added to Z-PACK TinMan Product Portfolio
Tyco Electronics, a leading supplier of high speed interconnect systems, has expanded its Z-PACK TinMan backplane product portfolio with a new 85 Ohm connector suite, especially designed for the PCI Express Generation 2 standard, and other applications where matching the connector impedance to an 85 Ohm system impedance is desired.

Tyco Electronics, a leading supplier of high speed interconnect systems, has expanded its Z-PACK TinMan backplane product portfolio with a new 85 Ohm connector suite. This new line of connectors is especially designed for the PCI Express Generation 2 standard, and other applications where matching the connector impedance to an 85 Ohm system impedance is desired. Additionally, this connector permits system designers to maximize the benefits of lower system impedance such as reduced PCB thickness/cost and less signal reflection, as a result of fewer impedance discontinuities.
The new 85 Ohm connectors offer the same industry leading performance as the standard Z-PACK TinMan product family, except in an 85 Ohm impedance package. Initial sizes offered are 3-pair and 5-pair modules in right angle and vertical configurations, with additional sizes to follow. Samples will be available later this month.
