NEMA Publishes NEMA MW 820-2016 Conductor Softness Testing Methods



ROSSLYN, Va., —The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published NEMA MW 820-2016 Conductor Softness Testing Methods. NEMA MW 820 presents wire testing methodologies used by magnet wire manufacturers and users to characterize the “softness of the conductor” in order to predict how well the magnet wire will wind and be formed into its final desired shape and position.



This new standard was developed by the NEMA Magnet Wire Section and covers the following industries: motor, generator, transformer, automotive, appliance, medical, aerospace, and electronics.



NEMA MW 820-2016 may be purchased in hard copy or as an electronic downloaded for $54 on the NEMA website.
