New Hire Will Work to Raise Visibility for Nearly 90-Year-Old Organization

ROSSLYN, Va., —The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced today that Phallan K. Davis has joined its staff as its first public relations specialist.

To advance the interests of NEMA’s 400-plus member companies, Davis will raise NEMA’s profile to media, government, and other external sources for matters pertaining to the electroindustry, including the Smart Grid, storm and disaster recovery, and how to reduce a product’s carbon footprint.

“From creating the standard for wall plugs to advancing the Smart Grid, NEMA remains at the forefront of society’s electrical advancements,” said Davis. “When a reporter recharges his smartphone, he is plugging into the value of NEMA, but may not be aware of it. My efforts will ensure that by increasing NEMA’s visibility, a reporter’s first call about anything related to the electroindustry will be to us.”

Davis comes to NEMA with more than seven years of agency, nonprofit, and political communications experience. Prior to joining NEMA, she served as communications and marketing associate for the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, a national leader in the healthy housing movement. As an associate with The Caraway Group, Davis managed the agency’s global diversity and inclusion efforts for Microsoft Corporation.

Davis holds a bachelor of arts in public relations from Baylor University.

Its 400-plus member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems.
