Nearly 100 NREL Staff to Discuss Innovation at WREF 2012

Nearly 100 renewable energy experts from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE)'s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have been selected to present at this year's World Renewable Energy Forum (WREF) to be held in Denver, Colo., on May 13-17, at the Colorado Convention Center.

NREL's Director, Dan Arvizu, opens the conference as a keynote speaker at the May 14 plenary session. Other NREL presenters represent nearly all of NREL's scientific research, energy analysis and technology transfer areas. Presentations include:

o No Blank Check: Examining Renewable Energy Financing Strategies in the United States

o Integrating Variable Renewable Energy Sources into the Grid: Lessons from Large Studies

o Cold Storage as an Enabling Technology for Solar and Wind Energy

o Microalgae as Biofuels Feedstocks: An assessment of the Yields and Fuel Quality
Producing Clean Biomass Syngas for Fuel Synthesis: Reforming Catalyst Development and Deployment
o Advances in materials modeling of kesterite thin-film solar cells

"Colorado has long been seen as a leader in this industry," Dana Christensen, NREL's Deputy Laboratory Director for Science and Technology, said. "With the convergence of international business community and the world's renewable energy technology experts happening on NREL's home turf, it only makes sense that we have a strong presence at the World Renewable Energy Forum."

WREF will feature more than 200 sessions discussing everything scientific, renewable, or financial and will also examine how renewable energy innovation is transforming commercial products and public policy to meet the world's toughest economic, environmental and security challenges.
