Regulating Open Internet Will Stifle Manufacturing Innovation

Washington, D.C. – National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse released this statement on the U.S. Federal Communications Commission’s decision to regulate the open Internet:

“Manufacturers are in the midst of a resurgence that’s fueling job growth and economic recovery nationwide, and today’s decision to regulate the Internet using an 80-year-old regulatory scheme threatens to curtail this resurgence, stifling future investment in the communications infrastructure that has helped fuel manufacturing innovation.

When it comes to manufacturing and the Internet, regulators need to step aside and let the innovators lead—just as we always have. The NAM will continue to work with Congress on a legislative solution to end this regulatory uncertainty.”
