In order to better position the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) in achieving its strategic goals and serving its members, NACD announced today that it has appointed Matthew T. Glaser as Director, Member Advancement and Strategic Communications; Larry Bafundo as Manager, Member Advancement and Communications; and Chris Parinello as Manager, Government Affairs.

As Director, Member Advancement & Strategic Communications, Glaser's responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of NACD's member retention and engagement activities, and serving as the primary press and media relations contact. Glaser will also have oversight over the Chemical Distributor, NACD's bi-monthly magazine.

Glaser has almost twenty years experience working for a variety of professional and trade associations. Most recently Glaser served as a Vice President for the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS). Prior to RAPS, Glaser worked for the American Gastroenterological Association and the National Marrow Donor Program, focusing much of his time on project management, education, professional development, member services and member recruitment. Glaser will report to Lucinda Schofer, Vice President, Marketing and Member Programs.

As Manager, Member Advancement and Communications, Larry Bafundo will serve as the primary membership recruiter for the Association and will assist in the implementation of new strategies to grow and engage the membership. Bafundo will also be responsible for all on-line communications for the Association including the associations Web Site and NewsBriefs bi-weekly member newsletter.

Prior to joining NACD, Bafundo worked at the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) for 3 years in a variety of membership and business development roles. Before SOCMA, Larry served as the Senior Program and Development Associate at The European Institute, where he developed programs and grant proposals for homeland security and transatlantic defense issues. Bafundo will report to Matthew T. Glaser, Director, Member Advancement and Strategic Communications.

As Manager, Government Affairs, Chris Parinello will be responsible for running NACD's Responsible Distribution PAC and grassroots programs, as well as advocating for sound government policies with government agencies and Members of Congress and their staff on issues impacting NACD's members companies. He will primarily focus on environment, chemicals management, health care and labor interest issues.

Prior to joining NACD, Parinello spent 3 years with the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) as Manager of Government Affairs. In this capacity he was responsible for developing and managing NCPA's strategic grassroots advocacy programs, engaging community pharmacists and patients to advocate NCPA's legislative priorities. He also successfully developed and managed NCPA's Political Action Committee and was responsible for advocating NCPA legislative issues to Members of Congress and staff. Prior to joining NCPA, Chris spent over 2 years with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), serving in multiple positions in their legislative and political departments. Parinello will report to Jennifer C. Gibson, Vice President, Government Affairs.

NACD and its nearly 250 members have established themselves as leaders in health, safety, security, and environmental performance through implementation of the Responsible Distribution Process (RDP), established in 1991 as a condition of membership in NACD. Incorporated as a condition of membership in January 1999, NACD members undergo third-party on-site RDPV - RDP Verification. For additional information, visit NACD's Web site - www.nacd.com.
