Murata Launches Highly-Advanced Surface Mount EMI Suppression Filter

BNX Series Boasts Increased Performance and Smaller Footprint

SMYRNA, Ga., Nov. 14 / -- Murata Electronics North America, a world-leading innovator in electronics and the largest global supplier of ceramic passive components, today unveiled a slimmer and more sophisticated surface mount EMI suppression filter. The new BNX022 measures only 12mm x 9mm x 3mm and weighs 0.8g, making it significantly smaller and thinner than previous versions and other manufacturers' filters. The trimmer dimensions are a result of advancements in capacitor materials and terminal formation technology, as well as improved packaging.

Further, the enhanced EMI filter achieves the highest level of noise suppression amongst surface mount type products. Noise suppression in DC power supply lines helps improve the performance in a variety of entertainment, industrial and technology equipment including flat panel displays, DVD players and servers. Typically, entertainment and industrial electronic equipment utilizes leaded EMI suppression filters. However, the increasing demands for higher current power supply lines coupled with the desire to reduce circuit board space has made surface mount EMI Filters the preferred component.

"Murata recognizes the market need for superior surface mount EMI filters," said Deryl Kimbro, product manager EMI filters and chip inductors for Murata Electronics North America. "Using Murata's advanced design capabilities, the new filter series offers engineers a lead-free product that achieves high performance, saves valuable board space and lowers material costs."

Murata's surface mount EMI filter series with a large insertion loss frequency band range (1MHz to 1GHz) and a rated voltage of 50V and a current of 10A, is available for the sample price of $3.50. Additional purchasing info can be found online at www.murata.com/. Lead time is approximately six to eight weeks.

Murata offers numerous noise suppression products that are designed for use on signal lines, power supply lines as well as other general electronic circuits. Murata's EMI Filter product line includes ferrite beads, ferrite cores, common mode chokes and a variety of other components to effectively suppress noise. Murata also offers technical support and guidance based on years of experience operating in the field of noise suppression. The technical support includes design kits, application manuals and a comprehensive set of software tools to simulate virtually any circuit condition.
