Motionnet Serial Communication System

Construct a Multi-Axis Communication System while Reducing Wiring Costs

RADFORD, VA -- A serial communication networking system from Nippon Pulse, the Motionnet© system allows users to greatly reduce wiring and provides input/output control, motor control, CPU emulation, and message communication. The network system transfers four bytes of data in 15.1 µsec using cyclical communication to control both input and output. Motionnet© system is suited for factory automation, biomedical machines, and semiconductor equipment.

The G9001A chip is the system's center device and can control up to 64 local devices. Consisting of 256 bytes of RAM for I/O control, the G9001A also has 512 bytes of RAM for data and can support a maximum 256 bytes of data communication within local data devices. A 64-pin QFP, the G9001A device has a maximum communication speed of 20Mbps.

The G9002 and G9003 chips are local devices that can connect to the G9001A center device. Users are able to connect up to 64 devices to each chip or a combination of up to 64 devices to both chips (no more than 64).

The G9002 chip is an I/O device. An 80-pin QFP, the chip features four 8-bit ports per device, contains a tolerant buffer, and makes use of cyclic transfer. The G9003 is the motor control device that can control a single axis servo or stepper motor based on instructions from a center device with a maximum output of 6.5Mpps. Users can get various motion profiles, encoder signal interface, and the ability to change position and speed on the fly.

A CPU emulation device, the G9004A chip that can be used in either CPU emulation mode or message communication mode and exchanges data with the center device. The G9004A communicates at a maximum 256 bytes (per burst) and has both 8-bit and 16-bit CPU interfaces.
