New Caucus Meeting Format To Be Introduced on October 9

New York September 15, 2009

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the next monthly ANSI Caucus Luncheon will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009. The meeting will feature guest speaker Bill Bonvillian.

Mr. Bonvillian is the director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Washington, D.C., office and author of a recent book on energy policy. He was a senior policy advisor in the U.S. Senate for many years, working on technology, homeland security, R&D issues, and science policy, most recently for Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. He is also a recipient of the IEEE Distinguished Service Award.

The October Caucus will follow a slightly different format than usual. The meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. with a half-hour discussion of public policy issues before Congress and the Administration; this portion of the event is open to ANSI Members only.

At 12:15, non-Members will be welcomed to join the meeting for the usual networking opportunity characteristic of all ANSI Caucuses. Lunch will be served at 12:30, followed by remarks from Mr. Bonvillian and a question and answer session for attendees.

This new format is intended to create a monthly forum where Members can meet informally to discuss issues of common concern. Following this open dialogue, Members may decide to work together or independently to develop action plans and follow-though activities.

The Caucus will be held at the National Press Club (529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor, Lisagor Room) in Washington, DC. RSVPs are requested as soon as possible.

To RSVP, communicate special dietary requests, or for more information on caucus luncheons, please contact Meghan Silver (msilver@ansi.org; 202.331.3603).
