Mission-Critical Innovation Awards to University Hospitals Using Sectra's IT Solution

SHELTON, Connecticut -

University Hospitals in Cleveland (UH), has been announced the winner in the category "Humanitarian/Environmental Impact" in the Mission-Critical Innovations Awards [http://h18004..hp.com/products/servers/mission_critical/awards/index.html], a worldwide competition presented by HP and Intel®. The competition has rewarded UH for its disaster-tolerant Sectra PACS solution for processing and archiving of digital radiology images.

UH provides continuous healthcare for patients across all its facilities sharing all data, which includes radiology images from 22 sites. The Radiology department led the integrated team of HP, Sectra and the IT department to design, configure, and install a disaster-tolerant solution with redundant systems for Sectra PACS to eliminate the risk of downtime, which would affect patient care.

"Our foremost assignment is to provide systems with the highest availability and no disruption to our customer's operations," says Torbjorn Kronander, President of Sectra's medical operations. "We have succeeded in designing the world's most reliable system for radiology IT, as has also been confirmed by this award."

The Mission-Critical Innovation Awards recognize leaders in IT for their groundbreaking work in developing solutions for mission-critical computing. The category in which UH was a winner recognizes an organization whose use of HP's Itanium-based systems is making a considerable, positive impact on society or the environment.

The award was announced on November 28 in Vienna.
