Mill Steel Co. Acquires Assets of S&S Steel Services, Inc.

Latest Acquisition Enables Mill Steel to Increase Steel Distribution Throughout the Midwest and Mid-South United States

As Many as 20 Jobs to be Created at Anderson, Indiana Location

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Mill Steel Co., one of the nation's largest distributors of flat-rolled carbon steel, has expanded its product breadth and geographic presence with the acquisition of certain assets of SS Steel Services, Inc. (SS), an Indianapolis/Anderson based supplier of carbon flat-rolled steel services serving a broad array of manufacturing customers in the Midwest, Mid-South and Mid-Atlantic United States. Terms of the deal, which closed on January 11, 2016, were not disclosed.

Mill Steel will continue steel slitting and cut-to-length processing operations and certain members of the company's leadership and commercial teams will remain in place. Mill Steel expects to create as many as 20 sales and production jobs at its approximate 215,000-square-foot Anderson, Indiana processing facility. Furthermore, in the coming months, Mill Steel plans to increase the existing production and distribution capability with the installation of additional processing equipment.

The strategic acquisition will support Mill Steel's growing automotive, construction, home appliance, agriculture, and HVAC business in the southeastern United States and Mexico.

Mill Steel Chairman and CEO, David S. Samrick said the acquisition is a mutually beneficial transaction for Mill Steel and SS' employees, suppliers, and customers.
