Milacron® Hosts Miami Valley Society of Plastics Engineers Event

Milacron, a U.S.-based leading global supplier of plastics technologies, hosted the Miami Valley Society of Plastics Engineers (MVSPE) Chapter meeting on October 17, 2012 with an evening of technical presentations, product demonstrations and plant tours.

"The MVSPE chapter is managing a series of manufacturing plant visits that foster plastics education, networking and a committed dedication to growing the student chapters at the University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Shawnee State and Miami University," says Bob Strickley, Milacron Vice President of Sales. "As a tenured SPE member, it is an honor to host this event at Milacron."

During the event, Milacron showcased the latest in injection molding machines, extrusion systems, mold technologies and aftermarket services.

The injection technology portion of the event, presented by Ron Hertzer, Milacron Director of Global Product Development, included a full review of the features and benefits of Milacron's new unique servo technology. After the presentation, the guests were taken on a tour of Milacron's manufacturing facilities.

A highlight of the plant tour was the new Maxima(TM) Servo 950 ton multi-component machine equipped with a Milacron rotary table. In addition, a Maxima(TM) G Servo 1100 ton demonstrated dramatic noise reduction, unique hydraulic design and servo technology. Guests also viewed the new servo technology featured on a Magna® T Servo 170 ton machine that reduces energy consumption, a PowerPak(TM) 550 ton packaging machine and a Roboshot 330 ton all-electric machine.

Milacron extrusion systems technology was presented by Mike Puhalla, General Manager of Global Extrusion, and featured a closer look at single screw extrusion technology. Following the presentation, guests were invited to visit the Extrusion Development Lab which featured a production MPAK 100 system, specifically designed for the medical industry, producing flexible PVC tapered tubing.

DME Mold Technologies, represented by Larry Bobik and Mike Minger, continued its strong support of SPE and the local chapters with a technology display, featuring Zenith valve gate hot runner systems, helical gear stack mold centering devices, standard slide assemblies and other new mold technology products.

The plant tour also featured Milacron's aftermarket business, Servtek(TM), which operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. Representatives discussed new value-added services: a robust e-commerce website - www.servtek.com, the Partnership Program and the Gearbox Rebuild Program.

"Our Chapter is highly appreciative of Milacron's hospitality, "said Jim Kinnett, President of MVSPE. "The event was a strong success, and we are looking forward to future events with Milacron."
