Michael L. Hanks, Ph.D., P.E. Joins ESI-Atlanta
Engineering Systems Inc. (ESI) is pleased to announce the addition of Michael L. Hanks, Ph.D.,
P.E.., Senior Consultant, to the company's Atlanta (Norcross), GA office staff. Dr. Hanks is a
graduate of Brigham Young University, where he received his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical
Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in the same field from Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a
licensed Professional Engineer in nine states.
Dr. Hanks specializes in fire and explosion investigations, OSHA safety regulations, composites,
paints, coatings and adhesives, medical products, chemical and manufacturing processes, testing
and chemical analysis, polymers and product development. He has over 15 years of chemical
engineering experience and has managed a laboratory that performed chemical analysis and
product-performance testing. Additionally, he led the materials development function that was
responsible for developing and evaluating coatings and adhesives, as well as thermoplastic
compounds and elastomers.
Mr. Hanks is a member of several professional organizations and has done numerous presentations
at universities and industry meetings on various topics.
