Material Handling Industry Forecast

The MHEDA Journal rings in 2011 with an optimistic look at the year ahead.

Dewitt, NY - The First Quarter 2011 issue of The MHEDA Journal (http://www.themhedajournal.org), the leading online magazine for the forklift, storage and handling, and general material handling equipment industries, was mailed to subscribers on January 31 and is now accessible online at www.TheMhedaJournal.org. This special 2011 Industry Forecast issue looks ahead to the year in the material handling industry from the perspective of distributors, manufacturers and representatives from the Industrial Truck Association (ITA), Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) and Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA). Economist Barry Asmus, Ph.D., also chips in with his "Six Unstoppable Economic Trends for 2011." Complete with commentary, charts and graphs, the industry forecast is a highlight of the magazine's annual schedule.

This year's forecast features predictions from 50 distributors, 94 percent of whom are expecting sales improvements in 2011. Among their reasons for optimism are pent-up demand, technological advancements, improved employee training and more efficient processes. Challenges will arise in the form of rising costs of doing business, managing cash flow and performing more work with less staff. Supplier/Associate members are optimistic as well, predicting individual company growth of anywhere from 2 percent to 60 percent based on new sales territories, product enhancements, improved marketing materials and improved partnerships with distributors.

The First Quarter issue also includes an introduction to 2011 president Chuck Frank, president of AHS Inc. (Cincinnati, OH), and the rest of the association's 2011 Board of Directors and Manufacturers Board of Advisors. Other features include distributor comments on industry consolidation, an inside look at a company and brand merger, a focus on distributor niche marketing, a preview of MHEDA's Annual Convention and much more.

The MHEDA Journal is published quarterly, in January, April, July and October. For more information, contact Chris Powers, editor of The MHEDA Journal, (315) 445-2347, e-mail: chris@datakey.org.
