A Rising Star in Forklift Sales

MHEDA profiles Scott Power, a budding powerhouse in the industrial truck industry.

Dewitt, NY - The First Quarter 2010 issue of The MHEDA Journal (http://themhedajournal.org), the leading online magazine for the forklift, conveyor, storage & handling, and general material handling equipment industries, was mailed to subscribers on January 15 and is now accessible online at www.TheMhedaJournal.org.

This issue features a profile of industry up-and-comer Scott Power, sales manager at Power Machinery Center in Oxnard, California. Power is just 27 years old, but he is already making a mark at the company, owned by his father, Rick Power. "My background has really given me a better grasp of who our customers are and how long they've been with us, which has helped me greatly in my decision-making process," Scott Power says. A typical day includes a host of responsibilities, including ordering new and rental forklifts, managing warranties, negotiating with vendors and more. "Playing multiple roles is the way it goes when you're part of a family business," he adds.

Power joined the company at age 20 after doing a series of odd jobs following high school. He worked as a salesperson for three years and was promoted to sales manager in 2008. He led the company to its first Nissan Nine sales award in his first year in that position and has not looked back. "You always have to be thinking about the next step. Regardless of what's happening in the economy, our sales department has to keep moving forward. It's my responsibility to see that it does."
