Regional METALFORM Moves Down Southeast Automotive Corridor

Nashville, TN, in 2006-Next Stop: Birmingham, AL, for 2008 Show

CLEVELAND, OH-June 20, 2007-METALFORM, the most focused metal stamping, tool and die, forming and fabricating event in North America, will hold its regional exposition April 1-3, 2008, in Birmingham, AL. Sponsored by the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), the show will house 350 exhibitors covering nearly 50,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.

Regional METALFORM events occur in even-numbered years and offer exhibitors lower-cost opportunities to reach regional markets across North America. Booth sizes are smaller than at traditional METALFORM exhibitions (maximum booth size is 400 net square feet) and target audiences are concentrated around the regional market.

Home to more than 350 automotive-related manufacturers, Birmingham was chosen to host the upcoming regional show to take advantage of the rapidly growing manufacturing economies in the Southeast area. Alabama and its surrounding states have been dubbed the "World's Third Largest Economy" by Southern Business and Development magazine. Showcasing the metalforming industry's latest products and solutions, Regional METALFORM will target contract manufacturers and OEMs from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and other states in the region.

A multitude of OEM companies and their suppliers have invested heavily to locate and expand in the area known as "Automotive Alley" along the I-65 corridor. Alabama has OEM plants to the north (Saturn in Maury County, TN, Nissan in Smyrna, TN, and Toyota in Huntsville, AL), the east (Honda in Lincoln, AL), the west (Mercedes-Benz in Vance, AL, and Nissan in Canton, MS), the south (Hyundai in Montgomery, AL), the southeast (Kia is building its new plant just across the Alabama/Georgia border in West Point, GA) and the northwest (Toyota in Tupelo, MS).

Since its inception in 1981, METALFORM has maintained a must-see status. Targeting metal stamping, tool and die, fabricating, metal spinning, roll forming, slide forming and other related manufacturing technologies, it's the one show for metalforming industry professionals. Those interested in exhibiting or attending can visit www.metalform.com to view the growing exhibitor list, floor plan and more.

PMA is the full-service trade association representing the $91-billion metalforming industry of North America-the industry that creates precision metal products using stamping, fabricating and other value-added processes. Its nearly 1200 member companies are located in 30 countries, with the majority found in North America¯in 41 states of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico.
