Menasha Packaging Saddened by Death of Richard Dick Sharfstein

Former President, Owner of The Strive Group (Formerly Pride Container Corp.) was Visionary

NEENAH, Wis. – Menasha Packaging regrets to announce that Richard A. Dick Sharfstein, former president and owner of The Strive Group (previously Pride Container Corp., now Menasha Packaging), died on Tuesday, Nov. 25. He was 82.

On behalf of Menasha Packaging, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Dick Sharfsteins family and friends, said Mike Waite, president of Menasha Packaging. Dick played a significant role in the corrugated packaging industry and was a visionary for more than six decades. His passion for his family and business were a part of him every day. I was honored to get to know Dick after Strive became part of Menasha Packaging. He will be greatly missed.

Sharfstein co-founded Pride Container Group along with his father, Robert (Bob) Sharfstein, in 1968, which later became known as The Strive Group. He served as president of the company until 1997 and became chairman of the board in 2000. Menasha Packaging acquired The Strive Group in 2012.

In 2011, Sharfstein was inducted into the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation's (ICPF) Circle of Distinguished Leaders, a prestigious group of business people whose vision, creativity and energy have driven the corrugated industry forward.

Sharfstein was also an active member of the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) for nearly 40 years. He served on AICCs board of directors during the 1980s and was named to AICCs Hall of Fame in 1996.

Sharfstein is survived by his wife Joan, four children (Jamye, Stacy, Doug and Jeff) and 12 grandchildren.
