McNichols Relocates and Expands Flagship Chicago Service Center


New location in Des Plaines is double the size and features new fabrication capabilities

July 17, 2006, Tampa, FL - McNichols Company announced today the relocation of its North American flagship Elk Grove Village, IL, service center to Des Plaines, IL. Moving to the newly constructed 80,000 sq. ft. space allows the company to increase its fabrication services, offer an expanded inventory and accommodate future growth.

McNichols, a family-owned and operated chain of metal service centers, is the nation's leading supplier of metal products with holes, serving domestic and international markets. This is the second major expansion this year for the $145 million company. McNichols' Chicago-area metals service center had been in its previous building since 1976.

Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. have been dedicated to fabrication services; nearly double the previous location. The area includes two crane bays with 5-ton and 10-ton cranes. A new wire cloth processing area has been added with additional slitting and cutting equipment. Welding capabilities have also been increased to now include MIG, TIG, and stick welding, as well as Plasma and torch cutting. The additional fabrication equipment, with more planned in the near future, will allow McNichols' Chicago service center to continually increase the fabrication solutions it offers its customers.
