MCAA Elects new leaders for 2012.

StoneL President Wally Stommes has been elected Measurement, Control, and Automation Association Chairman for 2012. Stommes succeeds James P. Bolin, Jr., COO of Process Automation for Pepperl + Fuchs, who will continue on Board as Past Chairman. MCAA Elects New Leaders for 2012



The Measurement, Control & Automation Association elected Wally Stommes, President of StoneL, as its Chairman for 2012. James P. Bolin, Jr. COO of Process Automation for Pepperl + Fuchs (who will continue on the Board as Past Chairman) passed a virtual gavel to the new Chairman during a meeting of the Board of Directors on December 12. The elections were completed by letter ballot of the membership of the Association during November. StoneL, which Stommes helped found, is a business division of Metso Automation. The company manufactures conventional and intelligent valve monitoring products and process networking components sold through distribution channels and OEMS throughout North America and other areas of the world. Mr. Stommes holds several patents, has authored numerous published articles on industry-related topics and is a member of Metso's technology planning group. He holds a BS in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. Prior to founding StoneL, he was a product manager for Proximity Controls and a computer systems engineer for Otter Tail Power Company. He and his wife, Dianne, have three grown children and reside in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Also elected in November was Todd Gardner, Vice President of Siemens Sensors and Communications, a unit of Siemens Industry in Grand Prairie, TX. Gardner will serve as Vice Chairman as well as Treasurer of the Association for the coming year. He is responsible for the overall US domestic market for Process Instruments and Analytics as well as global manufacturing and support of the ultrasonic flow and gas chromatograph businesses. A 1987 Engineering Management graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla, he began his career with Honeywell Micro Switch and then Foxboro in various sales, marketing and management positions. He joined Siemens in 2004.

Elected as Directors-at-Large were Robert D. Carrell, President and Vice President of International Sales of Hoffer Flow Controls, Inc. located in Elizabeth City, NC; John E. Erskine III, Vice President Sales from Racine Federated in Racine, WI; and Joseph E. Incontri, Director of Marketing for Krohne, Inc. headquartered in Peabody, MA. Each Director serves a three-year term until December 2014. Leaving the Board at the completion of their service were Past Chairman Charlotte Hill, President of Georg Fischer Signet, Michael Gerster, President of WIKA Instruments and Jeffrey Peters, President of Precision Digital Corporation.
