“Our goal was to reduce our energy consumption and control our maintenance costs. Only two months after the project, we’re already seeing the results we hoped for. Aesthetically, the whole building looks new… Overall, we’re very pleased; this investment was really a no-brainer.”

Wayne Shupp, Facility supervisor of the Allentown Parking Authority

The Challenges

Green Tech Energy Services, working in conjunction with its client Allentown Parking Authority, needed lighting fixtures in a multi-level parking garage in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They were looking for fixtures that offered a great appearance, price and quantity. Additionally, they needed products that were DesignLights™ Consortium (DLC) qualified and met their exact specifications.

The Solution

In the drive lanes at the Government Deck, 201 MaxLite 40-watt LED Parking Garage Canopy fixtures replaced 201 175- and 200-watt metal halide fixtures, which were pendant-mounted at approximately nine feet in the driving lanes. In the driving lanes at the Transportation Center, 160 MaxLite 40-watt LED Parking Garage Canopy fixtures replaced 160 existing 175- and 200-watt metal halide pendants. In the stairwells of the Government Deck, 86 MaxLite 40-watt LED Parking Garage Canopy fixtures replaced 86 100-watt metal halide fixtures. In the stairwells of the Transportation Center, 12 MaxLite 20-watt LED Wall Packs replaced 12 100-watt metal halide wall packs while 21 MaxLite 40-watt LED Parking Garage Canopy fixtures replaced 21 100-watt metal halide ceiling mount fixtures. Used as rooftop pole lights of the Government Deck, 16 MaxLite 100-watt LED area lights with weatherproof lenses replaced 16 400-watt metal halide shoebox pole lights, and 12 MaxLite 100-watt area lights replaced 12 400-watt metal halide shoebox pole lights in the Transportation Center. Eighteen MaxLite 20-watt full cutoff LED Wall Packs replaced 18 100-watt metal halide direct/indirect fixtures that were being used for site lights at the Government Deck, while 22 MaxLite 20-watt full cutoff LED Wall Packs replaced 22 100-watt metal halide wall mount flood lights.

The Benefits

MaxLite fixtures provide the parking facility with a significant annual energy savings of $68,049 and an annual operational savings of $14,152. In addition, the new fixtures improved the appearance of the entire facility.
