Material Handling Suppliers Offer Predictions

The material handling industry's most prominent suppliers predict 2010

Dewitt, NY: In the most recent issue of MHEDA Edge, the magazine lets readers know what suppliers of material handling equipment are predicting for the year. As it turns out, we're now two months into 2010, and for MHEDA suppliers, things are already starting to look up. The MHEDA Journal recently surveyed a broad cross-section of the material handling industry's most prominent manufactures about expectations for 2010. 85 percent of survey participants are expecting growth in 2010. This represents an 44.8-percent increase over 2009, when 40.2 percent of participants predicted growth. Not a single company predicted a sales decrease in 2010, a welcome statistic following a year that saw nearly every company's profits tumble.

So how is this possible? All of the experts say that the recovery will be a slow one. The economy might not hit its stride until 2011. In the face of predictions like these, MHEDA's suppliers might seem overly optimistic, if it were not for the concrete strategies and plans they have in place to ensure that growth happens. What are these strategies? Read on below for a few hints:

  • Focusing on fundamentals
  • New products create new dollars
  • Find strength through distributors
