Marvell WLAN Plus Bluetooth Single-Chip Solution Qualified for Bluetooth Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate


Marvell(R) 88W8688 Delivers Faster Transmission Speeds Featured in Bluetooth Version 2.0 + EDR

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 11 -- Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL), the leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that the 88W8688, the world's first WLAN plus Bluetooth single-chip solution for high-volume consumer electronics, has been qualified by the Bluetooth SIG for the Bluetooth Core Specification Version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). The 88W8688 also features support for Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR features.

The Marvell(R) 88W8688 delivers WLAN and Bluetooth in a small footprint, ultra-low-power single die that provides extended battery life in cell phones, converged devices, gaming devices and consoles, portable media players, and other applications requiring short- and long-range connectivity. The next- generation Bluetooth core specification provides an enhanced data rate of up to 3.0 megabits per second (Mbps), providing transmission speeds that are three to ten times faster than version 1.2.
