Marlin Steel Wire Products Launches 'Marlin Rising' Blog
BALTIMORE - Marlin Steel Wire Products, a leading manufacturer of custom steel wire and sheet metal materials-handling containers, has launched a blog called "Marlin Rising" at marlinsteel.com/blog. Its purpose is to help promote pro-manufacturing policy and small business competitiveness in the U.S. The blog will also publicize the progress of the company, which was ranked the 162nd fastest-growing private manufacturing company in the U.S. on Inc. magazine's "5,000" list of fastest-growing companies last year. Established in 1968, Marlin Steel has grown revenue seven years in a row.
"We want to boost our use of social media to tell the story of Marlin and of the importance of strengthening manufacturing and export trade in the country," said Drew Greenblatt, president of Marlin Steel. "The U.S. remains by far the largest manufacturing producer in the world. It's not just an important part of America's history. It's an economic building block with immense potential for job growth and for strengthening the middle class."
The company also added a Twitter page @MarlinSteel (twitter.com/MarlinSteel).
Among other recent achievements, the company was named one of the "Inner City 100" by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), an organization that promotes economic vitality in urban areas. Marlin was also certified this spring as an "ISO 9001: 2008" operation for the quality of its operations in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization.
Mr. Greenblatt has served as president of the Wire Fabricators Association, the trade association for the industry; is a member of the executive board of the National Association of Manufacturers, and is chair of the Regional Manufacturing Institute. He was appointed last summer as an inaugural member of the Maryland Advisory Commission on Manufacturing Competitiveness. He has been invited to the White House on six occasions, and has appeared more than 30 times on national television on the subject of manufacturing and small-business policy.
