Manufacturers Join Alliance to Support Pacific Northwest Trade

Exports are Critical to Jobs and Manufacturers' Competitiveness

Washington, D.C. - The National Association of Manufacturers has joined the Alliance for Northwest Jobs & Exports to support increased trade and the development of export infrastructure to create jobs. With 95 percent of the world's consumers living outside of the United States, exports are essential for job creation.

"Our competitors are busy working to take away our mantle of economic leadership," said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. "To keep manufacturers competitive globally, we must take action to implement policies that support investment and job growth. Strengthening trade in the Pacific Northwest will increase exports and create jobs that support the local economies and help drive manufacturing growth. The NAM and manufacturers across the country stand with the Alliance for Northwest Jobs & Exports."

The Pacific Northwest has been one of the strongest export economies in the nation with more than one in four jobs tied to trade. The mission of the Alliance for Northwest Jobs & Exports is to advance responsible development of export infrastructure to bring much-needed jobs and investment to the Northwest. The NAM joins with our state partners including the Association of Washington Business, the Idaho Association of Commerce & Industry and the Montana Chamber of Commerce to achieve the mission of this important alliance to grow our exports.
