Malvern Skips Trade Exhibition at Pittcon 2010 to Focus on Technical Program Contributions

5 January 2010: Malvern, UK: Malvern Instruments has announced that it will not exhibit at Pittcon 2010, believing that the slow economy, turmoil in key industrial sectors, and continued travel restrictions will all contribute to fewer of its customers visiting the Pittcon exhibition in Orlando. Anticipating some easing of these issues over the next 12 months, the company is planning to return as an exhibitor in 2011. Malvern specialists will however contribute to the 2010 conference, delivering six oral and five poster presentations, and supporting the Pittcon organisers' successful efforts to strengthen the technical program.

Randy Byrne, VP Marketing for Malvern said: ""While the easy decision would have been to exhibit as usual at Pittcon, we know that many in our marketplace are feeling the effects of travel restrictions imposed by their companies and are actively seeking more efficient ways of sourcing information and support for the products and services they need. Malvern is respected as a market leader in material characterization and an innovator in the way we communicate with our customers and our markets. People expect us to continually find new ways both of reaching out to them and enabling them to engage with us, all year round. We are confident that our customers and all who follow Malvern will like what we have in store for them in 2010 and beyond."

One of Malvern's core strengths is the company's world-class scientists and engineers, the many years experience they bring to instrument and applications development, and the contributions they make to advancing technology for materials characterization. With presentations across multiple disciplines at Pittcon 2010, the Malvern team is firmly supporting the continued expansion of the technical sessions. Their topics include: laser diffraction particle sizing; particle imaging of powder samples; nanoparticle verification standards; high concentration zeta potential measurement; measuring protein interactions; and pharmaceutical separations. Throughout 2010 there will be the opportunity to hear Malvern contributors at specialist conferences around the world and as part of the company's renowned web seminar programme.

Committed to real excellence in customer support, Malvern has long pioneered the web-based communications that have given millions around the world instant and interactive access to the company's resources. In establishing a multitude of communications channels, Malvern has been able to share the unmatched technical and applications expertise that resides in the company with a wide audience, and in doing so has broken down traditional barriers to exchanging information.

"We really do listen to our customers and communicate with them in the ways that they want," concluded Randy Byrne. "There are so many different opportunities to share information now and we intend to ensure that our customers get the full benefit of all the emerging technologies." www.malvern.com

About Malvern Instruments

Malvern Instruments provides a range of complementary materials characterization tools that deliver inter-related measurements reflecting the complexities of particulates and disperse systems, nanomaterials and macromolecules. Analytical instruments from Malvern are used in the characterization of a wide variety of materials, from industrial bulk powders to nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules. A broad portfolio of innovative technologies is combined with intelligent, user-friendly software. These systems deliver industrially relevant data enabling our customers to make the connection between micro (such as particle size) and macro (bulk) material properties (rheology) and chemical composition (chemical imaging).

Particle size, particle shape, zeta potential, molecular weight, chemical composition and rheological properties measurements are now joined by advanced chromatography solutions (GPC/SEC), extending Malvern's technologies for protein molecular weight, size and aggregation measurements, and synthetic polymer molecular weight and distribution. The company's laboratory, at-line, on-line and in-line solutions are proven in sectors as diverse as cement production and pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Headquartered in Malvern, UK, Malvern Instruments has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, a joint venture in India, a global distributor network and applications laboratories around the world. www.malvern.com
