New Global Forecasting Model for Machine Tools to debut in October

AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology and Oxford Economics announce the debut of the Global Forecasting Model for Machine Tools. Funded by AMT and developed by Oxford Economics, the model marks the first time associations around the world have collaborated to accurately forecast global machine tool consumption.

The first forecast package, set for release in late October or early November, will be delivered free of charge to IMTS 2008 exhibitors. "We at AMT are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide this important forecast information to our exhibitors," said Robert K. Simpson, President-Elect of AMT. "It is a meaningful way for us to say thank you for your support of IMTS."

This detailed report offers a forecast of machine-tool consumption for the 21 countries currently included in the model. The data will include:

A five-year annual forecast for all 21 countries with extensive detail on the top 10, plus regional and world totals.

A summary of main points and issues.

A discussion of the global outlook for the eight industrial sectors that are of most importance to the machine tool industry.

Insights on the key risks to the forecasts and a presentation of an alternative scenario.

Following the initial report, the forecast will be updated twice each year. All trade associations participating in the program will have the opportunity to provide their members with the latest forecast data generated from this model.

AMT (founded in 1902 as the National Machine Tool Builders' Association) supports and promotes the U.S. machine tool industry. AMT members are the global leaders in innovating, producing and implementing advanced manufacturing technology solutions. The association provides them with the latest information on technical developments, trade and marketing opportunities, and economic issues. It also gathers and disseminates information about world markets, promotes its members' products in those markets, and acts as a representative on manufacturing technology matters to governments and trade organizations throughout the world.
