Luminex Corporation to Feature ARIES System and NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel at AMP Annual Meeting

Recently cleared products will be highlighted at workshops, product demonstrations, events, and posters

AUSTIN, Texas - Luminex Corporation (NASDAQ: LMNX) today announced that it will be featuring the newly FDA-cleared ARIES® System and recently CE-marked NxTAG® Respiratory Pathogen Panel at the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Annual Meeting occurring November 5 to 7, 2015 in Austin, Texas.

About ARIES®

ARIES® is a sample to answer system crafted to increase laboratory efficiency, produce accurate results, and fit seamlessly into today's lean laboratory environment. The ARIES® System uses internal barcode scanning and other advanced features to minimize operator errors. Two independent modules each support from one to six cassettes, allowing for both STAT and Batch testing. IVD and MultiCode® Analyte Specific Reagents can be run simultaneously when using a common Universal Assay Protocol. An integrated touchscreen PC eliminates the need for a separate computer, stand-alone keyboard, and mouse; thus maximizing valuable bench space.

About NxTAG

NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel is CE-marked in Europe, and available for Research Use Only (RUO) in the U.S. NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel is an assay that detects relevant viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens, including the atypical bacteria Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Legionella pneumophila. The panel is the only respiratory assay that enables laboratories to easily and simultaneously detect these respiratory pathogens in a single, closed tube system and in a format that scales to accommodate changes in throughput needed to respond to seasonal changes in demand, especially during flu season. NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel requires only minutes of hands-on time with no upstream reagent preparation. The innovative tube strip design offers laboratories the flexibility to process a single sample or up to 96 samples per run, without wasting consumables or reagents. Total turnaround time is only about three hours for 96 samples (excluding extraction).

--  Workshop:"NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RUO)*--The New Paradigm in

Molecular Respiratory Disease Testing," Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 3

pm in Room 12B, Level 4. Dr. Catherine Moore from Public Health Wales

will describe a prospective study to determine baseline respiratory

pathogen levels in sudden death cases. In combination with culture and

histology, the NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RUO) revealed that

respiratory viruses are frequently detected in the respiratory tracts of

these individuals, and especially in infants. Dr. Arundhati Rao from

Scott White Memorial Hospital will present results of the NxTAG

clinical study conducted at her laboratory and share some insights from

a time and motion study comparing NxTAG to other molecular respiratory

        disease assays.

--  Posters: "Automation of the Luminex NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel

(RUO)" (M. Phillips/Luminex); "Assessment of a High Throughput Next

Generation Multiplex Respiratory Pathogen Panel" (J.H. Chen/Queen Mary

Hospital, Hong Kong; LMD); "Workflow Evaluation of the Luminex NxTAG

Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RUO)" (K. Post/IU Health).

AMP Events Sponsored by Luminex

--  International Showcase Event, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 7 pm. This

event will feature selected case study presentations on international

collaborations with members outside the U.S. and updates on the

initiatives of the International Affairs Committee and AMP's

        international affiliates.

    --  Science Educator Workshop, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 7:30 am-3:35

pm. AMP will be hosting a complimentary workshop for Austin area

educators at local high schools and colleges. The goal is to introduce

molecular diagnostics as a valuable and in-demand field of study to

        these science teachers.
