Lockheed Martin Unit Earns CMMI® Maturity Level 4 for Process Excellence
MOORESTOWN, N.J., July 30 / -- Lockheed Martin's (NYSE:LMT) Maritime Systems and Sensors business unit achieved a Maturity Level 4 rating during its recent Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®) appraisal. CMMI® is recognized as the standard for independent benchmarking within industry for maturity in critical technical and managerial processes.
The company demonstrated Maturity Level 4 compliance with CMMI® for Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integrated Product and Process Development and Supplier Sourcing (CMMI®-SE/SW/IPPD/SS) V1.1. The appraisal encompassed business and functional support areas, spanning multiple geographic locations, including program management, engineering development, and supplier management for U.S. and international development and production programs.

The independent firm Systems and Software Consortium, Inc., led the appraisal using the Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) V1.1. The CMMI® product suite was developed by government, industry and the Carnegie Mellon® Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center, to integrate multiple capability maturity models into a single improvement framework for use by organizations pursuing all-encompassing process improvement.
