Lista has implemented steps in its manufacturing process to reduce waste and turn-around time, while using the company's products to achieve that goal. The process begins with value-stream mapping (VSM) to design a more efficient, more effective and simplified manufacturing system. Lista's products, including drawer storage cabinets, workbenches and flow racks, are used throughout the process for many applications, including receipt of materials, group compartment manufacturing, tool storage and enhancing the optimization of work flow during the process. In addition to the VSM method, Lista's lean manufacturing tool kit includes 5S and Kanban systems to control the flow of material.
The company's lean manufacturing initiative has improved its existing Lista Xpress delivery program offerings. The model allows the sustainment of a supermarket of components, and the Lista Xpress items are built and configured to demand. Lista replaces those components based on consumption and demand using a Kanban visual type replenishment system. As a result, the movement of product is reduced, eliminating the need for an off-site warehouse, while achieving significant reductions in inventory, and providing a means to expand product offering. Implementing a lean manufacturing initiative increased the efficiency of the Lista Xpress program, increased the number of product configurations for customers, and allowed the company to satisfy a broader range of customers in a shorter lead time.
