Linde Showcases U.S. Experience to Show How Energized Solutions Can Improve Economics and Environmental Impact of European Hydraulic Fracturing

Murray Hill and New Providence, N.J. - The Linde Group today announced that Dr. Art Shirley, will give a presentation at the European Unconventional Gas Summit on how Linde's energized solutions are helping producers increase the productivity and decrease the environmental impact of hydraulic fracturing in the U.S. Dr. Art Shirley, head of Chemistry and Energy of Linde Gas will discuss how Linde's successful U.S. experience in the implementation of energized solutions that incorporate carbon dioxide or nitrogen can be applied to hydraulic fracturing in Europe. The European Unconventional Gas Summit will be held in Vienna, Austria, January 29-31, 2013.

Approaches using energized solutions can increase the overall productivity of wells over the entire lifecycle, while reducing the water needed for the fracturing process and minimizing environmental effects. Using real-life examples, Dr. Shirley identifies which wells may benefit from the use of energized fluids and key considerations guiding their use. Linde has decades of experience with the successful application of energized solutions in the production of hydrocarbons from unconventional sources such as shale.

"Many Europeans want to realize the benefits of the region's rich deposits of cleaner, more economical natural gas," noted Dr. Shirley. "Linde's extensive experience in the U.S. using energized solutions for hydraulic fracturing highlights their potential to increase production, improve economics and enhance environmental outcomes. In upstream processing applications, energized solutions can displace water and enable the production of hydrocarbons from unconventional reservoirs. We welcome the opportunity to share lessons from our North American operations at this timely conference. "
