Linde at EuroBLECH 2008 - Individual Solutions for Unique Combinations

Linde at EuroBLECH 2008, the 20th International Sheet Metalworking Technology Exhibition in Hanover, Germany, October 21-25

London, 11 August 2008 - The Linde Group (Linde Gases Division) will be showcasing new ways for customers to optimise their processes at this year's EuroBLECH trade fair. Industrial gases play a major role in a variety of processes such as welding, cutting and surface treatment. Attendees can visit numerous exhibits under Linde's show theme, "Individual solutions for unique combinations", and will also be able to experience demonstrations from the company's extensive portfolio of products and services.

Linde representatives will be on hand to inform visitors about the following innovations and technologies at booth D55 in hall 13:

o CORGON® / CRONIGON® - solutions for low-energy welding and modern electric arc processes

o LASGON® H - laser welding of stainless steel with active gas

o CRYOCLEAN® snow - CO2 blast cleaning of surfaces

o SECCURA® - automatic gas supply by telemetry

o ACCURA® - the barcode-aided cylinder management system.

The following are brief details of the applications on show:

CORGON® / CRONIGON® - solutions for low-energy welding and modern electric arc processes

In electric arc welding Linde's focus is on new low-energy processes. An advantage of this is especially evident when working with thin sheet metal as the reduced application of welding energy minimises the amount of distortion. Linde also demonstrates that manufacturing efficiency can be significantly improved by using the right process gases.

LASGON® H - laser welding of stainless steel with active gas

LASGON® H is a special laser welding process gas, developed for laser welding applications for stainless steel components such as pipes, sensor casings, cabinets etc. with CO2 lasers and also diode, Nd:YAG or fibre lasers. Compared to pure noble gases, LASGON® H allows higher welding speeds and produces less oxide build-up, resulting in a clean, shiny weld surface.

CRYOCLEAN® snow - CO2 blast cleaning of surfaces

Linde's CRYOCLEAN® snow cleaning process has become increasingly popular for both economical and ecological reasons. Liquid carbon dioxide is turned into a firm CO2 "snow" through expansion in a nozzle. The snow created is significantly more efficient in the cleaning of hot metal surfaces as it eliminates the vapour layer that would be created if a liquid gas was blasted onto a heated metal surface. Another advantage is the simplicity of automating this process through the use of robots. For this reason it has become an established technique in ready-for-finish cleaning and preparatory work - for example, prior to paintwork, or before soldering and welding.

SECCURA® - automatic gas supply by telemetry

SECCURA® enables Linde to remotely and accurately monitor its customers' gas reserves and efficiently supply them with more gas when required. Benefits to customers include accuracy of supply, reduction in time resources, increased cost savings and constant access to up-to-date telemetry data. They also have the added benefit of being able to operate minimal stock levels through an efficient just-in-time ordering and delivery system.

ACCURA® - the web-based cylinder management system

Accura® is a web-based system which allows customers to better manage their cylinder gases, particularly in a metalworking scenario. Each gas cylinder is identified by its own barcode and through the Accura portal, customers can get an up-to-date view and detailed information about their gas consumption and cylinder status. This helps the customer improve cost awareness, locate lost or hazardous cylinders, improve cylinder utilisation and increase productivity through reduced administration.
