Lincoln Electric Helps Ohio Motorcycle Shop Race to the Winners' Circle in TLC's Biker Build-Off Show

Cleveland - To listen to the evening crowd at Rock City Bar & Grille in Mentor, Ohio, on April 5, one would have thought the Cleveland Indians had just made it to the World Series. While it's too early in the baseball season for this to happen, the cheers were just as loud, if not more rambunctious, for Scott Webster, owner of Leroy-Thompson Handcrafted Customs, as he and custom cycle blew away the competition on the latest edition of TLC's Biker Build-Off. Leroy-Thompson's fans were at Rock City for the viewing party.

Leroy-Thompson used Lincoln Electric welding equipment, including a Precision TIG 225, to construct the winning bike, which he classifies as a pro-street bobber. (Lincoln Electric serves as Leroy-Thompson's official welding partner.) Biker Build-Off pits two custom shops from different parts of the country against each other to showcase their skills, personalities and creativity as they each build a custom bike. Webster and his team beat out Dawn Norakas of Stinger Custom Cycles of Cedar City, Utah.

Webster and his team built his pro-street bobber during 10 days in late November 2006 when the TLC crew was on site at his Mentor shop. The frame alone was constructed at a breakneck speed of 12 hours.

"It was a huge rush to hear the crowd at Rock City go wild when they announced us the winner," Webster said. "It was a great opportunity for us to show the country what this unique shop in Northeast Ohio has to offer. Plus, it was just plain cool to see myself on screen."

Webster, who is known for his unique and constantly evolving bikes, uses a variety of Lincoln equipment on a daily basis and for the show, including a Precision TIG 225, Power MIG 255C and Pro-Cut 55 plasma cutter. The shop also uses Lincoln SuperArc L-56 MIG welding wire and auto-darkening helmets.
