LIA Appoints Gus Anibarro to Education Director



Gus brings a decade of Laser Safety Education experience to the Laser Institute of America

Laser Institute of America (LIA) is pleased to announce that Gus Anibarro has recently been appointed to Education Director, effective June 1, 2009. Gus has worked at LIA for ten years and has made significant contributions to LIA's laser safety education programs.

In his previous role at LIA, as Education Manager, Gus presented at a number of prestigious conferences and taught LIA's Laser Safety Officer Courses. Additionally, he has provided in-house laser safety training and audits to many top industrial manufacturing companies.

"As Education Manager, Gus has done an excellent job developing and managing LIA's laser safety education programs," stated Peter Baker, LIA's Executive Director. "We are looking forward to Gus leading the next phase of growth for our specialized laser safety courses."

Mr. Anibarro is a member of the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) Z136 and Standards Subcommittee 3 for Safe Use of Lasers in Health Care. Additionally, he holds two degrees, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida and a B.A. Degree in Psychology from Rollins College.

"Providing laser safety education is at the cornerstone of LIA's mission, and I am excited to be taking the lead on the next phase of growth in this area," said Anibarro. "My goal is to enhance LIA's current laser safety program, while continuing to improve the quality of laser safety training that the LIA is known for within the laser community."
