Leviton "Captains" NEC Code Compliance With Training and Sales Promotion Programs

Multimedia training and sales promotion programs encourage NEC compliance

Little Neck, New York, May 12, 2008 - Leviton Manufacturing, the leader in electrical safety and standards compliance, is pleased to announce the availability of its 2008 NEC Compliance Training and Sales Promotion program. Designed to help busy electrical professionals get a leg up on the recent changes to the NEC (National Electrical Code) that relate to wring devices and telecommunication systems, the program includes versatile training options and an exciting promotion that builds distributor counter sales.

"Every three years the NFPA (National Fire Prevention Association) issues new NEC requirements in a phonebook-sized manual that is over 800-pages long. Leviton simplifies the content and language, presents it in a straight forward way through our legendary spokesperson 'Captain Code', and brings it to industry professionals in a pocket size booklet that helps them comply with the latest Code changes," said Tom Degnan, Contractor Channel Development Manager for Leviton.

Central to Leviton's 2008 Code Program is the company's Illustrated Guide to the 2008 NEC Code Changes. Leviton partnered with Mike Holt, the nationally-recognized electrical expert and NEC guru, who again co-authored this year's version. The 76-page guide book explains in easy-to-understand terms key changes to the Code that affect wiring device and telecommunication system installations.

Arranged numerically by NEC section number, the guide book provides a quick, convenient cross reference to the 2008 Code. Illustrations help clarify key points, and clear, concise text simplifies interpretation. Each sub-section summarizes a Code change, references related requirements, provides insightful commentary and analysis and presents a Leviton solution that satisfies the requirement.

"Our 2008 Code Program also consists of an ez-Learn(TM) training module that is accessible from Leviton's website at leviton.com. Users can log on to the site anytime, anywhere to access more information and knowledge," Degnan adds.

Leviton offers its distributors an opportunity to participate in an exciting sales promotion that raises awareness of the latest Code changes. Two attention-getting formats are available. The displays are stocked with top-selling Decora® switches, Code-compliant tamper-resistant receptacles, SmartLockPRO® GFCIs, energy-savings dimmers, Wetguard® and Power Indication Plugs and Connectors and more. They are available in an attractive 2-tiered floor-standing version and 3-tiered counter top model. Program participants receive a supply of guide books, valued at $5.00 each, to distribute to their customers with their qualifying purchases.
