Kingston Technology Premieres Mobile Phone Portal to Support Growing SmartPhone User Community

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 19 // -- Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced it is launching a special portal within the Flash products area of the Kingston Web site to support the usage and promote the benefits surrounding expansion memory for feature-rich mobile phones. Dedicated to serving the growing global community of mobile phone consumers, the new Kingston Mobile Phone Village will enlighten visitors on topics ranging from selecting the right Flash memory card for a particular device to tips on using and optimizing memory with certain mobile applications, and more.

"A key factor in the adoption of mobile device memory is personalization that enhances a consumer's productivity or entertains them. Kingston's Mobile Phone Village gives users guidance on why memory is important and how to personalize it," said Wendy Lecot, Flash memory marketing manager, Kingston(R). "During the CTIA wireless show our Mobile Phone Village was previewed. Encouraged by the positive response, we went full-speed ahead to establish an active online community where consumers can come for news, tips, and helpful insights gained from others' experiences as well as browse through a multitude of great downloads from our digital content partner Handango," continued Lecot.

Handango

One of the most prominent areas to personalize multifunction mobile phones is applications. In partnering with Handango, Kingston is providing a 'Download Central' link at the Mobile Phone Village that takes visitors to a Handango-powered online store that offers more than 190,000 downloadable mobile content titles. Applications are compatible with a range of mobile phones, supporting Palm OS, BlackBerry, Symbian OS and Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone, and can be stored on a Kingston mobile memory card.

"When Kingston first approached us with the idea of the Mobile Phone Village, we immediately saw the synergy," said Frank Alazmah, Director, Partner Management, Handango. "Between Handango's vast array of fun and productive titles and the advantages of additional storage offered by Kingston, mobile consumers will find value from the portal and significantly enhance their mobile experience," added Alazmah.

To celebrate the Village launch, Kingston and Handango are offering promotional discounts on popular content downloads and will continue to encourage consumers to personalize their mobile memory with specials throughout the year. Consumers can access the promotion through the Mobile Phone Village.

The first phase of the Kingston Mobile Phone Village features a custom configurator to help visitors easily determine the best memory for their mobile device and will include other areas of interest, such as: a Tip Square to highlight how-to's for various applications on mobile devices; a newsstand sharing latest developments; an Expansion Row providing factoids about expansion memory uses; and a Product Plaza featuring the different types of Flash memory card formats. Additional mobile content will be added to the portal, kingston.com/mpv as it is developed.

Given the myriad of expansion memory formats selected by wireless handset manufacturers, Kingston designs and builds mobile memory solutions ranging from miniSD, microSD, and MMCmobile cards to standard SD and MMCplus cards. As more advanced wireless devices are introduced, Kingston will continue to produce larger capacity mobile memory solutions to support their storage requirements.
