KARK-TV Little Rock Selects JVC GY-HM790U ProHD Cameras for Studio

WAYNE, NJ (January 4, 2011) - JVC Professional Products Company today announced that KARK-TV, the NBC affiliate in Little Rock, Ark., has purchased three JVC GY-HM790U ProHD cameras for production of its local newscasts. The Nexstar Broadcasting station, which serves the Little Rock-Pine Bluff market (DMA #56), has been using the cameras in its main studio daily since June. While the new JVC cameras, which replaced BTS LDK-91 units, are currently being used for SD production, the station is expected to move to HD production in early 2011.

With a redesigned studio adapter sled and innovative modular design, the GY-HM790 is an ideal solution for multicore or fiber-based studios. Its three, 1/3-inch progressive scan CCDs produce 1280x720 and 1920x1080 images, and its proprietary MPEG-2 encoder supports 1080i, 720p, and even SD (480i) for operations that have not yet made the move to HD. The compact, shoulder-mount camera is also an outstanding choice for ENG use, with a dual card slot design that records to low-cost, non-proprietary SDHC solid-state media cards in ready-to-edit file formats for Apple Final Cut Pro (.MOV) and other major NLE systems (.MP4).
