K. Alan Dick Elected to the Aluminum Association's Board of Directors


Arlington, VA - October 24, 2011 Today, the Aluminum Association announced that K. Alan Dick, Executive Vice-President and President of Rolled Products North America for Aleris, has been elected to the Association's Board of Directors. Effective January 1st, 2012, Alan Dick will become the Executive Vice-President and CEO of Global Recycling at Aleris.

"I am pleased to be joining the Aluminum Association's Board of Directors," said Alan Dick. "Aleris and the Aluminum Association have always represented a great partnership and I'm excited to continue and help grow that relationship from my position on the Board."

Mr. Dick has served as Executive Vice-President and President for Rolled Products North America since September 2009. Previously, he has served in various other roles for Aleris including Senior Vice-President and General Manager for Rolled Products North America from December 2007 until his promotion. He also served as Senior Vice-President of Global Metals Procurement and Vice-President Metal Sourcing.

"The election of Mr. Dick not only shows his commitment to the Association's vital activities, but also Aleris' commitment to the Association and its sustainability work," said Steven J. Demetriou, Chairman and CEO of Aleris and immediate past Chairman of the Aluminum Association's Board of Directors. "The Association is an important venue for industry communications, and continuing to inform the general public about the sustainable nature of aluminum. Mr. Dick has shown leadership on this issue at Aleris."

Before joining Aleris in 2004, Mr. Dick was the Director of Raw Material Purchasing for Commonwealth Industries and held other supply chain positions during his tenure at Commonwealth Industries (1998-2004.) Before joining Commonwealth, Mr. Dick was Vice-President and General Manager for the Pacific Region of Ideal Metals, and began his career at Pechiney SA of Canada. He held several positions within Pechiney SA including Vice-President and General Manager.

"Mr. Dick and Aleris are key supporters of the Association," said Heidi Biggs Brock, President of the Aluminum Association. "Mr. Dick's wealth of knowledge and experience in rolled products, metal procurement and other industry areas will certainly be an asset to the Association moving forward."

Mr. Dick has a Master of Business Administration from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
