JGP: New Parallel Gripper from SCHUNK

SCHUNK, the clamping and gripping technology specialist based in Lauffen, Germany, has restructured its range of pneumatic grippers and divided it into three segments. In future, the middle segment will be formed by the "SCHUNK Compact" gripper class, which will provide all the essential functions. This class can also be extended with plenty of accessories and offers an excellent price-performance ratio.
The JGP parallel gripper represents the lead in to this new middle class. This extremely compact and universal pneumatic gripper is intended for use in clean to slightly dirty environments, and is available in sizes 64 to 160. Thanks to its compact design, the JGP is particularly ideal for applications in which only limited space is available and interference contours have to be avoided. Their oval pistons, wedge-hook kinematics and sturdy T-slot guidance enable the JGP grippers to achieve gripping forces of 250 to 2390 newtons at a weight of 0.28 to 3.3 kilograms, depending on size. The stroke is adjustable and ranges from six to 16 millimeters for each finger. The recommended workpiece weights are 1.25 to 8.2 kilograms in standard cases, i.e. for purely metallic force-fit gripping between workpiece and gripper finger. If other material pairs or form-fit grippers are used, much heavier workpieces can also be moved without difficulty
An extensive range of accessories is available for the JGP, including pressure maintenance valves, finger blanks and fittings as well as a quick-change jaw system. Position monitoring can be performed by means of magnetic switches or inductive proximity switches. Further sensors also enable the incorporation of measuring system functions, with the FMS force measuring system, the FPS flexible position sensor or the extremely accurate APS analog position sensor, for example. As a result, the JGP can also be used in complex assembly tasks that require precise positioning at a defined force.
