IWK Health Centre Standardizes to Masimo SET® Pulse Oximetry

Leading-Edge Canadian Hospital Deploys Breakthrough Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion Pulse Oximetry Technology
IRVINE, Calif. - Masimo (NASDAQ: MASI) today announced that the IWK Heath Centre, Atlantic Canada's leading health centre providing specialized, quality care to women, children, youth and families, has converted to Masimo SET® pulse oximetry and sensor technologies, the standard-of-care at leading health organizations worldwide.
Masimo SET pulse oximetry virtually eliminates false alarms(1) and increases a clinician's ability to detect life-threatening events(2) - helping to substantially contribute to improved patient outcomes and patient safety. Masimo SET pulse oximetry also has been shown to help clinicians reduce retinopathy of prematurity(3), screen for critical congenital heart disease in newborns(4), and save lives in post-surgical floors, recovery(2), labor and delivery rooms(5), and ICUs(6).
IWK's conversion to Masimo SET pulse oximetry is in keeping with the IWK's dedication to excellence in care and delivering the best possible results for its patients. More than 100 independent clinical studies have confirmed that Masimo SET technology allows clinicians to accurately monitor blood oxygen saturation in the most challenging conditions, including patient movement and low peripheral perfusion.

The Health Centre also has the option to upgrade at any time to Masimo rainbow® Pulse CO-Oximetry(TM), which allows clinicians to noninvasively monitor multiple blood constituents that previously required invasive or complicated procedures, including total hemoglobin (SpHb®), oxygen content (SpOC(TM)), carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO®), methemoglobin (SpMet®), Pleth Variability Index (PVI®), and acoustic respiration rate (RRa(TM)).
