ANSI Webstore Now Offers Full ISEA Collection of Safety Standards

Safety has always been a priority in the workplace, and employers are increasingly turning to standards to assure that workers are protected from potential hazards. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is pleased to announce that the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) collection of standards is now available on the ANSI webstore.

From air purifying devices to first aid kits, ISEA standards are key documents to promote workplace safety across a variety of industries. One of the newest standards from ISEA guides performance requirements for high visibility safety apparel and headwear. ANSI/ISEA 107-2010, American National Standard for High Visibility Safety Apparel and Headwear guides garments that provide conspicuity to the user in hazardous situations under any light conditions by day and under illumination by vehicle headlights in the dark. Performance requirements are included for color, retroreflection, and minimum areas, as well as the recommended configuration of the materials.

Another ISEA standard guides safety for a specific body part: the eyes. ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2009, American National Standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment, establishes minimum performance and use requirements for eyewash and shower equipment for the emergency treatment of the eyes or body of a person who has been exposed to hazardous materials. Emergency showers, eyewashes, and eye/face washes are all covered under the standard's guidelines.

When workplace incidents lead to emergency evacuations, safety guidelines are more important than ever. ANSI/ISEA 110-2009, American National Standard for Air-Purifying Respiratory Protective Smoke Escape Devices, specifies minimum requirements for the design, performance, testing, and certification of air-purifying respiratory protective smoke escape devices for the immediate emergency evacuation of adults without re-entry.

Whether safety standards address everyday activities or emergency situations, and one part of the body or the overall safety of the worker, these guidelines are key to maintaining a secure workplace. To learn more and to purchase these standards, visit ANSI's webstore.
